Tea Tree Oil, Explained Honestly

Tea tree oil comes from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, native to Australia, and it's genuinely popular in natural skincare. Here's an honest look at what it does, and what it doesn't.

What it's good for: Tea tree oil has a long history of use in skincare, particularly for oily or blemish-prone skin, thanks to its naturally cleansing properties. Diluted properly, it's a popular ingredient in cosmetic products for exactly that reason.

What we won't claim: we won't tell you it treats colds, flu, wounds, or fungal infections, or that it's a substitute for seeing a doctor about a skin condition. If you want to try it on skin, always dilute it properly and patch-test first, and never take it internally, it's genuinely harmful if swallowed.
