If you and your family have overindulged this Christmas I’m sure you are already thinking about how to be healthier in the new year. With young children that may be fussy eaters, it may be difficult to incorporate healthy snacks into their school routine. But don’t worry! We have some ideas for you!
New year, new healthy snacks for the kids!

It can be difficult to incorporate fruit and vegetables into a child’s school routine, especially when they may be expecting sweet treats. So, it is important to make these healthy snacks as fun as possible. You could cut the fruit and vegetables into fun shapes and mix it into a colourful fruit salad or make a fruity pizza! Adding some Greek yogurt or fruit yogurt could also excite their palette.
Instead of buying flapjacks from the supermarket and not knowing exactly what is in them, why not make them yourself?! It’s so quick and easy!

As part of our Wedderspoon range we have KFactor 12 and KFactor 16 Raw, Manuka honey. KFactor 12 is a multifloral Manuka honey, which is made from the nectar of several different flowers, but still has a significant amount of Manuka pollen. It is a great everyday Manuka honey that is less expensive, and lovely for baking.
KFactor 16 is a monofloral Manuka honey, made mainly from one nectar source – Manuka flowers! It has a richer concentration of valuable active enzymes, and so it is more expensive. Some families like to keep a jar of this one specifically for spooning straight, or stirring into a warm drink, on the days everyone's feeling a bit under the weather.
Rice Cakes are a great healthy snack that children can take to school to give them energy between meals. They are available in multiple flavours, which is perfect for fussy eaters as they can choose their favourite! So, instead of crisps, why not choose rice cakes?!

The healthiest rice cakes are made of whole grain brown rice. They are a great source of carbohydrates and proteins! They can also be topped with healthy toppings to make them even healthier.

Get your child’s daily dose of Manuka honey with our Wedderspoon Manuka Honey On the Go Snap Packs! The perfect snack to pop into your child’s lunch box without any mess. So wherever they are they can simply snap open and squeeze the honey straight into their mouth. Deliciously simple, and a lovely little treat any day of the week.
Children will often want a sweet and also a savoury snack during the day, so why not combine the two?!
Homemade popcorn is an efficiently healthy snack when it is air-popped, lightly seasoned at home, and you know what you are putting in it. It is a low-calorie snack that is high in fibre and is filling. Whereas, popcorn at the cinema is very different and not nearly as healthy!

Our Wedderspoon Natural Manuka Honey Drops are another great way to incorporate Manuka Honey goodness into your child’s routine with a sweet treat. Our Manuka Honey drops with ginger and echinacea come in individually wrapped packets, perfect to pop into a lunchbox. They're slow-dissolving, so they're lovely for coating and soothing the throat, and a nice little treat on their own too.
